Introducing Aurora's new UDO (not the same as a UFO), fall street sweeping and Snow Busters

Oct. 3, 2019

New zoning code gets stamp of approval

The Aurora City Council recently unanimously approved Aurora's new zoning and subdivision code, the Unified Development Ordinance. The zoning code includes the regulations and requirements needed to shape development and the built environment as envisioned in the Aurora Places comprehensive plan. It also merges previously separate zoning code and subdivision code.

Highlights include allowances for urban agriculture, gardening and food stands as new permitted land uses; renewable energy projects in more zone districts; new housing and neighborhood layout options to offer housing choices for a range of incomes, needs and lifestyles; and an emphasis on block size and connectivity to provide transportation options and foster great neighborhoods that retain value over time.

To view the new code, visit AuroraGov.org/ZoningCodeUpdate. Materials displayed at a recent public meeting provide a summary of the code's highlights.

Snow Busters

Volunteer this season yourself or get a group involved to help one needy neighbor who is incapable of shoveling after a snowfall. Visit the link for details on how to apply.
